OX2
North and west Oxford — Jericho, Summertown, North Oxford, Botley, North Hinksey, Wytham, and Wolvercote. Oxford's most desirable residential postcode for academics, professionals, and families — with prices to match.
What OX2 covers
OX2 is a large, varied postcode covering everything north and west of the city centre. It contains some of Oxford's most prestigious addresses — Park Town, Norham Gardens, Belbroughton Road — as well as more affordable streets in Botley and North Hinksey, and the village of Wolvercote north of the ring road.
For most people, OX2 means Jericho (the trendy Victorian neighbourhood west of the city centre) or Summertown (north Oxford's family hub with excellent independent schools catchments and a village-high-street feel). Both are among the most competitive markets in Oxfordshire.
Neighbourhoods within OX2
Jericho
Victorian canal-side neighbourhood immediately west of the city centre. Dense terraced streets, independent cafés, boutiques, and the Oxford University Press HQ. One of Oxford's most in-demand addresses for young professionals and academics.
Summertown
North Oxford's family suburb. Excellent independent primary schools, a strong high street, and large Victorian and Edwardian semis. One of the most competitive property markets in Oxford. Premium school catchments (Dragon School, Cherwell, etc.).
Park Town / Norham Gardens
Oxford's most prestigious residential address. Garden squares, Victorian villas, close to the University Science Area. Detacheds well above £1m.
Botley
West of the city, the other side of the ring road. More affordable than Jericho or Summertown; popular with university support staff and families. Good bus connections.
Wolvercote
Village north of the ring road with a genuine community pub (Trout Inn), Port Meadow access, and semi-rural feel. Popular with Oxford academics. Slightly lower prices than Summertown despite similar character.
Wytham
Tiny estate village almost entirely owned by the University of Oxford. Exceptional setting; very rarely available.
Property prices
OX2 prices are at or above the Oxford City average. North Oxford and Park Town are among the most expensive residential areas in the country outside London. Botley and outer OX2 are more accessible.
